Last Friday without any prior warning at all, HMRC made the decision to abruptly stop supporting TLS 1.0 completely which meant that Dynamics GP users would no longer be able to submit electronic VAT files directly to HMRC unless they were using applications that supported TLS 1.2 or higher.
So how do I know if I have been impacted by the above HMRC change in Dynamics GP?
We recently had a client notice the following error “No Obligations found for the Year 2020” when trying to retrieve the obligations when doing the VAT return. However, we would suggest that you contact your Account Manager or call us on 020 3004 4600 to let us look into this for you.
What does the above HMRC change mean for my business?
If you are currently using Dynamics GP to submit electronic VAT files directly to HMRC and are not on the latest version of Dynamics GP (18.3), you will no longer be able to do this going forwards so will need to urgently review your options.
Please Note: If you are currently using Nolan’s Cloud solution to submit your VAT returns you will not be affected by this HMRC change!
I have been impacted by the above HMRC change, so what options are available for Dynamics GP to get this working?
Option 1: Upgrade your Dynamics GP solution to the latest version (18.3)
Microsoft have revealed that its latest version of Dynamics GP (18.3) will be compatible with the latest HMRC change. This means that your business will need to consider upgrading to Dynamics GP 18.3 if you want to continue to submit your electronic VAT files from Dynamics GP directly to HMRC.
Option 2: Use Nolan’s Cloud solution
If you are not in a position to upgrade your Dynamics GP solution at the moment or have recently done so, we would suggest that you consider using Nolan’s Cloud solution which will work no matter what version of Dynamics GP you are using.
Please note: If you are using VAT100 in Dynamics GP, you will need to move to the VAT Daybook in order to use this software which can be done at the same time as implementing Nolan’s Cloud solution and is relatively straightforward.
Next Steps?
