What to expect in the Wave 2 2023 update for Dynamics 365 and the Microsoft Power Platform?

If you weren’t already aware, Microsoft has announced its plans for the next Wave 2 update which will be released from October 2023. To help you digest what this means for you, in our latest blog article, we will take you through some of the latest advancements that will be coming to each specific Dynamics 365 application as well as for the Microsoft Power Platform. 

Dynamics 365 Enhancements 

Dynamics 365 Marketing 

You will find that this application will see new and improved enhancements for Copilot allowing marketers to easily build new experiences and will enable personalisation to be applied to email content, images, and layouts. As well as this, the use of B2B dashboards and easily assigning leads to the right sales rep will further enable marketers and sellers to be better aligned allowing them to act as a unified team across the buying journey.  

Dynamics 365 Sales 

You will find that this application will be focused on providing sales organisations with the tools to be able to both prioritise and manage digital sales processes via enhanced sequence capabilities. Furthermore, users will be empowered to assign and monitor lead assignment status through enhanced lead assignment capabilities by giving recommendations, data summaries, finding information and performing actions in line within the flow of work. 

Viva Sales 

You will notice that this is redefining how sellers work by giving them access to advanced AI capabilities such as email & meeting summarisation, CRM recommendations, sales email composition as well as real-time sales tips. In addition to this, further investments are being made to collaboration spaces in Microsoft Teams that will help to provide better, more refined sales Copilot experiences that can help to accelerate deal progression as well as helping to close sales faster. 

Dynamics 365 Customer Service 

You will find that this application will continue to give greater autonomy to agents to allow them to work much more effectively through additional Copilot capabilities such as the join me on Teams & visual enhancements to the agent workspace, the ability to see live chats and voice calls within Outlook and personalising conversational control. As well as this, there will be further changes to the voice channel, call dialer improvements and the ability to route calls to agents with the longest idle time. 

Dynamics 365 Field Service 

You will find that this application will see new features for frontline workers, service managers as well as dispatchers. Some of the new features requested by users are: converting quotes to work orders, enhancing inspections and evolving resource scheduling system features. 

Dynamics 365 Human Resources  

You will find that within this application the overall recruiting experience will be rich and intuitive to enable better targeting for recruiters, candidates as well as hiring managers. Furthermore, the human capital management ecosystem will be expanded to include learning management system integration via public APIs through Microsoft Dataverse along with the expansion of the payroll partner network. 

Dynamics 365 Customer Insights 

You will find that this application will see improvements in the Copilot features to enable you to ask questions in simple words, to receive insights fast and act on them quickly. In addition to this, new features in real-time data management will highlight the latest view of your customers and provide quick access to insights through Dynamics 365 applications to enable your team to deliver seamless, personalised experiences across the customer’s lifecycle. 

The Microsoft Power Platform Enhancements 

Microsoft Power BI 

You will find that Power BI is improving the overall creation experience for individuals by providing better experiences with Microsoft 365 thus bringing more parity on the web and bringing the Power Query diagram view into Power BI Desktop. Furthermore, for teams, more features will be available for both meetings and multitasking. For businesses, GIT and source control integration will be enabled for developers to enable them to maintain and collaborate on their business intelligence solutions. 

Microsoft Power Apps 

You will find that Power Apps is expanding the use of Copilot to enable more AI assisted experiences to be created to allow developers to become more productive, bring simpler language to all users as well as to provide insights to all admins. In addition to this, modern controls and rich collaborative experiences will be delivered for users with improved deployment and governance support to help make sure that low-code can be used all over the business. 

Microsoft Power Pages 

You will find that Power Pages is on the charge with the Copilot maker experience which will allow users to create a site. Furthermore, managed environments will include Power Page capabilities for maker usage and onboarding. When it comes to data, you will be able to connect to data where it exists now. Better still, low-code makers will be able to work together more and to detect co-presence. 

Microsoft Power Automate 

You will find that Power Automate will continue to make it much easier for users to get started with the creation of new flows by using natural language across cloud flows and desktop flows as well making it easier for process mining to help improve automation and authoring experiences. As well as this, it will become much simpler to manage work at scale using the unified activity view and deeper notifications on capabilities throughout the product. 

Microsoft Power Virtual Agents 

You will find that Virtual Agents will be releasing new features such as multi-lingual bot support, generative answers and actions, standalone interactive voice response and IVR integration with Dynamics 365 Customer Service as well as full integration with the Conversational Language Understanding service. Furthermore, Microsoft will continue to provide customers with new Enterprise Trust features. 

Microsoft AI Builder 

You will find that the AI Builder will enable makers to easily process structured and unstructured documents. Using Chat GPT, responses to customer requests can be pre-generated according to enterprise guidelines and will be available in a human validation station enabling makers to easily review and enhance content that is automatically generated from intelligent copilots.
