Following on from Microsoft’s recent revelation that Windows 10 will be retired in 2025, Microsoft at its recent live-streamed virtual event announced that its latest operating system to hit the market will be called Windows 11.
Microsoft further revealed that its latest software will enable Android apps to be run on the Windows desktop.
Microsoft added that the new system will have a more streamlined design layout with a centralised toolbar as well as windows with more curved edges. From the design, it does look very similar to the Apple version however similarities may not necessarily be a bad thing.
Furthermore, Microsoft went on to add that it will be launching a set of improved features such as a personalised feed with widgets, a brand-new Microsoft software as well as multi-tasking improvements and a full Teams chat integration.
This might be stating the obvious, but Windows 11 is said to be much quicker than its previous version, Windows 10 with faster boot up times, quicker speeds for web browsing and a better efficiency for saving batter power on laptops. Better still, if you are into gaming then there are also a number of further enhancements available.
When will Windows 11 be available to Windows users?
Microsoft haven’t confirmed when this will be yet but did state that Windows 10 users will be able to upgrade at some point this year.
How much will Windows 11 cost?
Microsoft have revealed that Windows 11 will be available as a free upgrade for those Windows 10 PC customers that are eligible.
For those that don’t meet the above criteria, Microsoft hasn’t as yet confirmed what the price will be. Despite this, Windows 11 is likely to come pre-installed for any new PCs or laptops.
