Microsoft has announced that it will be bringing a number of new features to Microsoft Teams very shortly as most of the world is locked down for the foreseeable future, which means even greater numbers of people will be working from home.
In our latest blog article, we will provide you with 5 new features that will be coming to Microsoft Teams.
1) Background effects
The first of these new features are ‘background effects’ which gives users the capability to customise their background from a variety of Microsoft images. At this stage, it is not yet known if you can use your own background images officially, however it has been reported that you may be able to put a custom image in a special uploads folder hidden in AppData.
2) Ability to call consumer Skype users from Teams
The second of these new features is the capability to be able to call regular Skype users from within Teams which can work both ways. This is usually set by default & can be easily switched on within a Teams organisation. At this stage, it will be only for text and voice with video more than likely to be included in the future as well. Microsoft has heavily hinted that it will be looking to rollout Teams to replace Skype at some point.
Microsoft has revealed the 'new features coming to Microsoft Teams for your personal life' and how within a single app will allow you to do personal video calls but to share things such as grocery lists, calendars and store more sensitive data such as logins and passwords and much more. It is important to note that this may be reserved for users with a Microsoft 365 personal subscription for now.
3) Meet now buttons
The third of these new features will be the inclusion of ‘Meet Now’ buttons within a Teams channel which will be moved to the top right of the window which Microsoft has dubbed as a 'new experience for launching instant channel meetings'.
4) New Landing Page for users to join from a link
The fourth of these new features will be a newly designed landing page to allow users to join a Teams meeting from a link. This will give users three options: continuing to use the browser, opening in the Teams app or give you the option of downloading the Teams app.
5) Multi-window chat
The fifth and last of these new features will be the inclusion of multi-window chat which will allow you to have chat conversations in different windows.
