It is safe to say that time flies by with the latest version of Microsoft Dynamics GP released last October and yet many GP users are continuing to delay upgrading to the latest version. It is understandable that upgrading your existing system can take time and consideration & all too often easy to brush under the carpet and continue to use your existing version.
However, this delay can store up problems for the future & before you know it, your business is multiple versions behind in essential upgrades and ends up paying for it in the long run.
Therefore, there are some very good reasons why you should specifically upgrade to the latest version of Dynamics GP if you are between versions GP 2010 and 2015.
1) SmartList Designer
One of the first reasons to upgrade to the latest version of Dynamics GP is the SmartList Designer. Essentially the SmartList Designer allows users to quickly and easily create, modify and build Excel Refreshable Reports and SmartLists.
Furthermore, SmartList Designer helps you to get information easier. To give you an example of this, if you are using SmartLists on a regular basis, sometimes you’ll find that there is a field or column that you need in that SmartList which isn’t there, SmartList Designer helps you put it in.
As well as this, SmartList Designer allows you to link your Dynamics GP data to external data through SQL views so if you are using a third party product that requires access to their database, you are able to link through SmartLists across to the database to get relevant data from that product.
2) Document Attach Feature
The second reason to upgrade to the latest version of Dynamics GP is the Document Attach feature. The Document Attach feature allows users to attach multiple documents to Items, Customers, Vendors, Assets & Transactions.
Furthermore, this feature is useful as it allows the GP user easy & instant access to documents like Contacts, Credit Reports, Customer POs, pictures & much more! In addition to this, users do not need to search all over the place for a document & instead are able to attach any document or even a link to a OneDrive site or SharePoint.
3) Workflow
The third reason to upgrade to the latest version of Dynamics GP is the Workflow capabilities. The capabilities of workflows have been improved dramatically in later versions. A number of new workflows have been included such as general ledger account approvals as well as purchase order invoice approvals.
Reminder Emails
Furthermore, you are also able to set a reminder time period on the workflow whereby users can be notified if they haven’t reacted to their assigned workflow task within a specified time period.
Copy Workflow Step
As well as this, you are able to add more efficiency to the process of setting up workflows by allowing you to copy steps within a workflow, renaming the step as well as including substeps to a workflow.
4) Suite of SSRS Reports
The fourth reason to upgrade to the latest version of Dynamics GP is the Suite of SSRS reports. The SSRS tool in Dynamics GP gives you the option to create formatted reports with tables in the form of data, graph, images, and charts. These reports are hosted on a server that can be executed any time using parameters defined by the users.
Furthermore using the SSRS reporting option in Dynamics GP can provide a number of different benefits:
