Case Study: How Advantage helped a leading, global B2B agency to consolidate recent acquisitions through Office 365 migrations

Background 

They are a leading, global B2B agency that helps businesses to generate growth throughout the funnel, from brand to demand, data to media, positioning to ABM. 

They have over 500 B2B specialists all over the world who collaborate with industry leaders today and tomorrow to help them to increase the operations of their businesses. 

The Challenge / The Problem 

This leading, global B2B agency had recently acquired 2 smaller UK agencies and 1 US agency and were looking to migrate all of the acquired companies, Office 365 data over to their Office 365 tenant. 

After discussing this with their internal IT team who didn’t feel comfortable doing this, it was decided that they should employ a direct Microsoft Cloud Solutions provider to undertake this task. After an extensive search in the market for partners, it was decided that Advantage, given they had the skillset required for the migrations would be the partner they would be working with on this extensive migration project. 

The Solution 

Advantage were tasked with migrating all 3 companies information from Exchange Online, OneDrive/SharePoint and Teams Channels to the main agency’s Office 365 tenant. This was something that Advantage was comfortable with given that they had performed a number of complex Office 365 migrations over the years. 

The approach that Advantage took to this project was to migrate the companies in order to ensure that each one was completely successfully. Also, given that Advantage were a direct Microsoft Cloud Solutions provider, they were also able to supply temporary Office 365 licenses on a monthly subscription whilst the migration was happening to ensure that business could continue during the migration process. 

Furthermore, during the migration process, Advantage made use of a whole host of specialist tools to migrate SharePoint to make sure that all of the set security permissions were transferred without any problems. 

When it came to finishing off the migration projects, we made the decision to do an automated switch over for all 3 companies' staff over the weekend so that the transition was as smooth as possible and the data would look like it did before on the new platform.
