If you didn’t know already, Microsoft will soon be retiring and ending support for some products. In our latest blog article, we will tell which products will be impacted and what you can do to resolve this.
1 - End of support for Office 2013
Microsoft recently ended its support for Office 2013 as of April 11th 2023.
What does this mean for your business?
You will find that if you are a business still using the Office 2013 product, you will no longer be able to rely on the technical support from Microsoft on the phone or via online chat. As well as this, no additional support content will be created and any preexisting content will no longer be available.
In addition to the above, there will be no more security or bug fixes either. This means that any users still using this product will now become more vulnerable to cyber-attacks or viruses.
What options are available to my business?
The best thing to do would be to get an upgrade organised straight away to avoid any potential security issues of continuing to use the product following the expiry of the support.
If you are a client of Advantage, then please speak to your Advantage Account Manager about an upgrade. If you are not a customer of Advantage then either talk to your IT team or give us a call today to discuss all your options?
2 – Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine (classic) Retirement
It was recently announced that Microsoft will be retiring its Azure Virtual Machine (classic) on September 1st 2023.
What does this mean for your business?
This means that after this date your business will no longer be able to use this service and could lose your data.
What options are available to my business?
The best thing for your business to do will be to get in touch with Advantage today to discuss how we can help you migrate your IaaS resources to the new Azure Resource Manager before the cutoff point.
3 – Hyper-V Server 2012
Hyper-V Server 2012 will no longer be supported by Microsoft from October 10th 2023.
What does this mean for your business?
This means that after the above date, your business will no longer be able to receive any support, security patches or bug fixes from Microsoft meaning that this will be more susceptible to security risks or breaches.
What options are available to my business?
The best course of action in this case is to talk to Advantage who will be able to discuss all the cloud based computing options that are available for your business.
